Ilant Health, a company focused on employer-sponsored obesity care, announced on Tuesday that it has secured $15 million in Series A funding. This investment aims to enhance the delivery of precision care for obesity across the United States.<\/p>\n
Headquartered in New York, Ilant Health operates a value-based care model designed for employers and payers across all 50 states. The company identifies employees who could benefit from obesity treatment and tailors their care based on medical, behavioral, and social factors. Treatment options include intensive behavioral therapy, pharmacotherapy (including GLP-1 and non-GLP-1 medications), and bariatric surgery. Additionally, patients have virtual access to specialists in obesity medicine, mental health practitioners, nutritionists, and peer navigators.<\/p>\n
The Series A funding round was led by Cornucopian Capital, with participation from naturalX, Peakbridge, Semcap AI, Evidenced, Operator Partners, Celtic, LifeX, and AlphaLab. In total, Ilant Health has raised over $22 million to date.<\/p>\n
According to Elina Onitskansky, founder and CEO of Ilant Health, the funding will facilitate the company\u2019s growth and investment in obesity and cardiometabolic precision care. \u201cWe are expanding our capacity to provide care to more employers and members, increasing our engagement with health plans, and enhancing the technology that helps us match each individual to the treatment pathway most likely to improve their outcomes,\u201d she stated. \u201cIn the coming years, obesity treatment options will expand significantly with new medications, procedures, and evidence-based interventions entering the market. Our goal is to stay ahead of this complexity by developing increasingly sophisticated precision medicine capabilities that help identify the right treatment for the right person at the right time.\u201d<\/p>\n
This funding comes as employers and health plans reassess their approach to obesity care amidst rapidly rising healthcare costs, Onitskansky added. \u201cA few years ago, the conversation was primarily about access to GLP-1 medications. Today, buyers are much more informed,\u201d she remarked. \u201cThey are asking tougher questions about outcomes, long-term health impacts, total cost of care, and how obesity correlates with conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, sleep apnea, musculoskeletal disorders, and mental health.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ilant Health has also reported positive results, with its members achieving an average weight loss of 15%, compared to the 5.8% reported in routine clinical practice. The company recently launched direct contracting and transparent pricing solutions for obesity management prescriptions through Eli Lilly’s Employer Connect program, which provides customized coverage options for obesity care in partnership with over 15 digital health companies.<\/p>\n
Ultimately, Ilant Health aims to transform cardiometabolic health in the United States. \u201cWe want to push the industry beyond treating obesity as a singular disease and towards a more individualized approach that recognizes the biological, behavioral, and social factors influencing health,\u201d Onitskansky explained. \u201cAs we see more indications for GLP-1 medications, additional treatments, and increased awareness, the ability to customize care at a truly individual level while employing a precision approach to deliver the best care possible will become even more critical.\u201d<\/p>\n
