The new benefit, announced on Thursday, is designed to support a diverse workforce and cater to the needs of younger generations, including Millennials and Generation Z.<\/p>\n<p>The Lifestyle Spending Account is integrated with the UHC Store, a digital platform accessible via the UnitedHealthcare app and <a href=\"http:\/\/myuhc.com\">myuhc.com<\/a>. This after-tax benefit allows members to purchase a range of health products and services through the UHC Store, encompassing areas such as women\u2019s health, mental health, family planning, pregnancy, nutrition, fitness, diabetes management, musculoskeletal health, and more. Notably, these products are typically ineligible for other accounts like flexible spending accounts and health savings accounts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The LSA is designed to enable individuals to personalize their experience at any time throughout the year\u2014not just during open enrollment\u2014and to purchase products and services that complement other employer-sponsored benefits,&#8221; said Alison Kosup, Director of Products for UnitedHealthcare&#8217;s Commercial Business, in an email. &#8220;Because the UnitedHealthcare LSA is integrated with an exclusive digital store for members, individuals do not have to wait for reimbursement, as the transaction occurs at the point of sale.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>More than 15 million commercial members of UnitedHealthcare will have access to this new benefit. The initiative reflects the evolving needs of the workforce, with younger employees increasingly demanding holistic offerings that align with their lifestyles, according to Kosup.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The UHC Store and the integrated LSA provide employers a way to finance wellness and lifestyle offerings that their employees greatly value and increasingly expect,&#8221; Kosup added. &#8220;For employers, the LSA expands support, flexibility, and choice without requiring a complete overhaul of their health plans.&#8221; She noted that piecemeal solutions and vendor offerings might not resonate with the entire workforce and can be costly, whereas the LSA allows individuals to select the benefits that best suit their needs.<\/p>\n<p>This development comes at a time when approximately 76% of employers are expected to offer a lifestyle spending account within the next three years, according to a WTW survey. Additionally, a Wellhub survey revealed that 88% of employees consider well-being as crucial as salary, while 78% expect their employer to provide support for their well-being.<\/p>\n<p>Kosup highlighted that the new LSA is part of UnitedHealthcare&#8217;s strategy to introduce more digital shopping experiences in healthcare.
